Dear Jamie
Your note of the 14^th ins^t. only reached my hand this moment w^h will account for my silence. It was posted on the 15" - but being addressed by Mr Frank Pray to the Theatre. did before not get to us until after before [inserted] we had left & was forwarded to Mr Pray by Mr Barrow to day. You must have thought My silence on the matter. last night very strange. This will excuse it. are you out of the woods yet?

[page 2] If I am not disappointed in some money I hope to get the last of this month. +++ in Phil^a. I can help you. if I am disappointed I shall be in a small despair myself. & you will forgive me for I shall be in the same boat with yourself. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to oblige you. You know this. I am hopeful matters will be settled very soon after Congress meets. The north will have to back down. On the 

[page 3] Union question. & the gulf states will be let to go their own way. or have an awful fight. This will be settled soon after Congress meets. & the Enthusiasm is beginning to cool. we shall be alright next fall.
