Description
On page 2, the paper speculates or utters wishful thinking about a theater performance involving both Macready and Cushman, performing Shakespearean roles. Given the context of false reports about Cushman accompanying Macready on his Southern tour before coming to London with him, it is interesting how often Cushman and Macready are mentioned in the same articles even before they performed together. Considering Cushman's efforts to talk to Macready at the end of 1843, which he mentions in his diary entries, Cushman may effectively manage her career here by seeking the company of the famous actor Macready.

"MR MACREADY attracted a crowded and fashionable audience at the National last night, and his impersonation of the character of the character of Macbeth is spoken of in terms of admiration by those who witnessed it. By the way – being in the house two or three minutes, we noticed, amidst the brilliant array of beauty and talent that graced the dress circle, MISS CHARLOTTE CUSHMAN – one of the most (if not the most) gifted of the tragic actresses that America has yet produced. What a rich histronic treat it would be to witness Mr Macready and Miss Cushman as the respresentatives of Shakespeare's heroes and heroines – after seeing Mr M. and Mrs Anderson (who is said to have acquitted herself last night in the arduous character of Lady Macbeth, in a most superior manner) in the same round of characters!"
