Dearest Annie. Like a goose, I forgot my Shakespere [sic] last night will you please give it to the +++ & will you lend me the Diamond Edition of Lowell for Miss Chapman to look at. another thing I want to ask of Jamie. Miss Stebbins has been in despair over the lack of applause at the Theater. & last Evening gave me the Enclosed paper to give to Jamie to have put into the adver-

She thinks the word ought to be spoken-- somebody said something about it in the Evening Gazette yesterday--and a member of these words spoken may rouse the shy. conscious. prudent Scotch Yankee [?] to give the use of his own hands to the artist or lecturer. we had a lovely evening last evening. I was enchanted with Lowell as I always am & have been. & Miss Chapman has completely
