[3523] Dear Miss Stebbins,
When your very kind letter of 16th ulto was recd I thought I would acknowledge it directly, and tell tell [sic] you how glad I was to learn that you were in better health, and that you were making progress in your good work—above all that you were encouraged by the family expressing their their satisfaction with what had been written— but not being well I have delayed from day to day. Now as I leave home in a day or two to spend, with my wife, some time in Saratoga, I will send
[3523 reverse] the letters you so kindly loaned me, and say, I hope you continue in better health and are able to continue your work on the memoir. I notice by the papers the death of Mrs. Weld. I am glad that I went to see her when I did. Death is diminishing our circles, rapidly. I hope you will pardon me for writing very briefly and accept assurances of esteem and regard.
Very truly and sincerely Yours
Manning Leonard.
