My Dear Emma
your Auntie requests me to write a +++ for her today to tell you she is not the +++ for her exertions of yesterday. & hopes as much for you. & that you reached home safely and completely-. she would have written herself. but she is suffering again, the Dr having found it necessarry [sic] to cauterize one or two points [?] in her heart again this morning
[3760 reverse] In greater necessity—This application—though very painful, is trifling in comparison with the other & I hope she will be more relieved. but it is very hard that after her let up of yesterday she should so soon be called upon to suffer this torture again. There is nothing for it however. but endurance[?] & helping her to endure. I am sorry to have to tell you this renewed applic
[3761] -ation was necessary. we must only hope that the result may be the more permanent & effectual
she sends you much love. & kisses to the children
always affectly [sic, affectionately] yours
