I ought to go to New Port [Newport] this afternoon. I ought to have gone on Saty [Saturday]. on Friday. & now I am really going tomorrow. so I shall not be able to accept the Kind [?] visitations of Mr Longfellow on Wednesday. will you convey to him my regrets at missing his visit - and also my inability to go out to see him. Mr +++ comes [?] this Monday [?]. & has gone this afternoon. your note came too late for me to
