[184] Darling. I have anxiously watched all the papers since I left Newport for some account of the arrival of the Fulton. I saw her news telegraphed from Cape Race - but in no days paper since have I been able to see the arrival or a lest of her passengers. and not knowing whether Mrs Whitwells [sic] state of health allowed of your sailing in her as you purposed. I am in a state of doubt. Pray God nothing interfered with your purpose & that you have arrived in health & safety among all those who so dearly love you. for +++ your place in the heart of your father &

[184 reverse] mother is very dear & very high. I am so anxious about you & that you should take no +++ step to interfere with their [?] trust in you which is unbounded. Your father has had you but little with him. & never with Mary grew up. It is right that you should give yourself to him — until such times as he is willing to spare you. I know of course how much Ned cares for you. but until he is in some business & prepared to ask you of your father as he should. I am very fearful of your taking some step which would only cause your father unhappiness unnescessarily [sic]. Pray pray be guarded darling. for your fathers [sic] sake who loves you as no other man ever can or will. I have been to the Post here & found no letter. shall I find one at the White Mountains any where? I so want to see you. to hold you to my heart

[185] once more & know how much you love & care for me. You know. I shall be in +++. on Friday 7". at the Crawfords [sic] White Mountain House on Sat [Saturday] & Sunday. & on Monday at the Franconia [?] Notch. on Tuesday at +++ +++ St. & on Monday at the Tremont House Boston. when I shall stay +++ I know when you are to be in Lenox. for I go there to meet you. How sweet it will be to see you again. how longs it seems since that +++ day!! Let me hear from you darling. That you are well & happy. & about your voyage. We have got on very well so far without bad weather or fatigue. My companions are bearing their journey wonderfully. Ma preferred going to Boston. to be with Hattie & +++ to you I suppose. but he put it upon the expense. & said "it was not worth while to spend so much moving for him as he had seen +++"

[185 reverse] I accepted his reason. but drew my own inferences as you perceive. I dont [sic] feel that Hattie is just the best +++ in the world. she tells him she will help him & he trusts to any +++ who [?] can do that. but I doubt her help for all that! I wish he would not +++ for any help. but wait a +++. she would need none. Now God bless you my beloved. Think of me & care for me as I think of & care for you. & know me ever fondly your devoted
Ladie
